Trusts & Foundations

The aims of SSF are manifold: to enhance and extend the curriculum in English and Drama; to support participants’ social, personal and professional development; and to increase arts access amongst more disadvantaged young people, including those from mainstream and special schools with difficulties and disabilities.

The 2009 Festival involved 38 special schools. 13% of participating schools had 30% or more of their pupils on free school meals. SSF is committed to the all-inclusive nature of the Festival; and is therefore committed to further increasing the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are given the opportunity to explore Shakespeare, and to achieve in ways many would never have thought possible. Our evaluation, feedback and testimonials from participants show a need for the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Have a look here

The Festival relies on the support of trusts and foundations to ensure that SSF is able to continue its work, and to maintain its socially inclusive nature.
