teacher / director workshops
The Festival provides every teacher-director with the script of their chosen play, online resources, and full technical support. Teachers are invited to attend a professional training day with the MAP Consortium in September / October. The MAP Consortium travel to a theatre in your area to give a full day session, aiming to offer both inexperienced and experienced teachers genuine, creative development as well as practical tips and techniques for your approach to your production.
cast workshops In January, every cast member will receive a half day workshop delivered by the National Youth Theatre, the Scottish Youth Theatre, the National Youth Theatre of Wales or the Ulster Association of Youth Drama. These workshops take place alongside another participating school in their allocated theatre, and have proved invaluable to schools’ performances and in raising students’ acting abilities and confidence. They also provide a chance for the teacher/director to meet the Festival team and discuss their technical requirements and for the cast to see their performance space.See the links below for more information on the content of workshops.
The MAP’s session for teachers as directors on the Shakespeare Schools Festival aims to inspire teachers to realise the text in performance by working collaboratively with their students on a process of discovery.
