In 2006, Shakespeare International piloted the work of the Shakespeare Schools Festival with five international groups. Schools and youth groups from Dubai, America, Malawi, Germany and Bermuda had access to SSF scripts, online resources and followed the Schools Festival project structure in their own countries. Groups put on workshops / performances during February 2007, the same month as the UK Schools Festival.
International School visit
Berkeley Institute from Bermuda, raised enough money to fly over to the UK for their performance and meet the UK school they had been communicating online with. They joined three other UK schools for the opening press night at the Shaw Theatre, London on 5th February, 2007.
Online exchange
Our international pilot groups were partnered with UK schools participating in the schools festival to encourage a cultural online exchange. These partner groups were given web pages to add photos and blogs to keep us up to date with their progress.
