How SSF already subsidises each school

The registration fee for the 2017 Festival is £928 and the unit cost for each school is nearly £2000. SSF raises the remaining amount per school in a number of different ways.

  • Ticket sales. The Festival is budgeted on the understanding that each school might sell 50 tickets to parents and friends, other teachers and pupils. We rely heavily on the box-office. For this reason, performances to parents at school before or near the theatre performance date are not allowed and marketing students are asked to encourage parents and friends to purchase tickets at the reasonable cost of approx. £8.50 (adults)/£6.50 (concessions). A letter addressed to the parents at your school is delivered to each Teacher-Director along with a marketing flyer in September.
  • Merchandising. Our 2014 Festival t-shirts are on sale. Programmes including individual cast list inserts (supplied by the Teacher-Director) for each of the 265 theatre nights are on sale in the theatres. These contain synopses of the plays.
  • Trusts and foundations, corporate sponsors and individual donors.
