Fundraising Gala Dinner at BAFTA
Gala dinner hosted by Harriet Walter and Andrew Marr at the exclusive setting of 195 Piccadilly.
BAFTA was the setting for a fantastic fundraising gala dinner hosted by Harriet Walter and Andrew Marr in aid of the Shakespeare Schools Festival, January 21st 2008.
In between courses guests had the opportunity to see cameo performances from the 2007 Shakespeare Schools Festival. Hadleigh High welcomed guests with extracts from their The Tempest; Charlton School thrilled the audience with a call and reponse Twelfth Night; finally Denbigh High School brought the house down with Richard III.
Always encouraging audience participation, an auction in the middle of the evening offered guests the chance to enact the final scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
During dessert, the successful (and slightly apprehensive!) cast rehearsed with a professional director. The evening closed with the newly-formed Piccadilly Players and their interpretation of The most lamentable comedy and most cruel death of Pyramus and Thisbe, introducing Andrew Marr as Moonshine.
Thank you for everyone who attended this highly enjoyable evening.
