Volunteers
Shakespeare Schools Festival is looking for volunteers to work as Volunteer Venue Assistants for our 2011 Festival.
Shakespeare Schools Festival is a unique arts-education charity offering young people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing Shakespeare on a professional stage. Please take a look at the short
film on our homepage to see the difference SSF makes to young people’s lives. This year, 600 schools are taking part (that’s 12,000 9-19 year olds!) and we are in 76 theatres across the UK.
Two Venue Assistants work in each theatre alongside a Venue Director –a professional hired by SSF – to ensure that performance days run smoothly. This entails working with teachers, students, and theatre staff to ensure that schedules are kept to; all parties are happy; logistical arrangements are managed and that any issues that arise are dealt with efficiently.
Volunteer Venue Assistants will take one of two roles; Front of House Assistant or Backstage Assistant. The two volunteers will receive a day’s training with SSF. Festival performances will run from October 3rd – November 18th 2011 and volunteers will be required to work at least two days and up to as many as ten (8.30 – 22.30).
We have extended the deadline for volunteers with bases in: Newcastle, Liverpool, Preston, Leeds, Portsmouth and Lincoln.
Please note: All Venue Staff are required to attend a one-day training session with SSF in the week commencing 5th September in central London, expenses will be covered.
You can download a job description here and application form here.
Extended deadline for applications is Monday, 8 August 2011.
