Shakespeare International - find out more

"For the first time in Rwanda's history, the students of Nyagatare Secondary School acted 'Romeo and Juliet'. As a tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet' shows the disturbing consequences of people's hatred for one another, and the painful consequences it leads to."
- The New Times, Kigali, Rwanda 10/11/09

What we provide....

* Scripts: 19 of Shakespeare's most famous plays as 30-40 minute abridged scripts (in English). Performances can be in any language, naturally!

* Production Resource Pack: Groups receive a Production Resource Pack in April. Downloadable press and publicity materials are also made available.

* SSF provides a forum for young people to engage cross-culturally, uploading photos, videos and text.

"I think the singular benefit of what you are doing is the fact that bringing Shakespeare to life is such an exceptional vehicle for cross-cultural pollination and understanding which is what makes your project unique" Bruce Taylor, Cultural Attache USA to Turkey

Participants...

Groups are responsible for all elements of staging their productions: casting, performance venue, rehearsal, marketing, and funding (with support from partnering organizations where appropriate).
